The northern nature is very unique with its forests, fells, lakes and rivers – not to mention the four seasons.
Winter normally starts late October or early November as the snow falls on the ground.
The polar night comes in early December and lasts about a month in Enontekiö. During that time the sun doesn't rise above the horizon at any point, creating a gloomy light with pink hues and blue moments. The crispy winter comes after the darkness fades away, February being the coldest month.
Spring time is perfect for snow activities, such as skiing, mountain biking and snowshoeing. The days are sunny and the snow layers are thick, and it looks like millions of diamonds were beaming on the snow! Days get longer and the warm sun starts to melt the snow little by little, and in May it will all be gone.
Summer brings along the nightless nights and the magical midnight sun. The light time lasts from the end of May until the end of July, during which the sun stays above the horizon and doesn't set at all. Lakes, rivers and forests offer perfect settings for paddling, hiking or biking trips in the nature. Beware of the mosquitoes, though!
Autumn is a beautiful time of the year in Lapland. In mid-September the green plants start to preserve their chlorophyll, making the colours fiery red and orange. It is a perfect time for hiking in the nature or collecting mushrooms and berries.
activities
The villa is located 250 km north from Rovaniemi, near Raattama village in Yli-Kyrö, on the Pallastunturi fell. Hiking trails are close, and you can get to one of the skiing tracks in no time.
Lapland offers unique activities all year round. You can do hiking or mountain biking, go cross-country skiing, or ski down the lopes in a ski resort. Why not hop aboard a husky sled or on a snowmobile to get a bit of an adrenaline rush?
I discovered the beautiful Villa Aurinkotuuli a few years back, and fell in love the minute I laid my eyes on it. The national park view, the surrounding fells and the lake right below are pure magic. The freshest air in Europe –a proven fact, by the way – fills my lungs as I open the front door.
I was sold. I had no other option but to include this destination in our holiday home catalog.
We are very proud of the villa and could not be more excited to be able to offer this unique Lapland experience to our international quests. It is our mission to keep improving the destination for especially those who appreciate nature, peace and privacy.
